Art Materials and Ballantyne Framing is the best art store and custom frame center in Eastern North Carolina. We carry a wide assortment of high quality art materials and tools, a fantastic selection of frame molding, and we have a complete pottery studio with seven wheels and all the equipment you need to create pottery.

Art &Materials is going against the flow.

Art & Materials is in process of setting up a new store in Washington NC.

We will be located in the Inner Banks Artisan Center, in downtown Washington. It will be a small satellite store that will serve the Washington artists and their community. It will start out with the basic materials most commonly used, and grow as we see what is in demand. We hope to grow it within the Art Center to be a complete art store. We will re-supply it weekly and have the ability to process special orders by fax.

We hope to be in operation by August 1st!

We are very excited to bring national award winning artist Catherine Hillis to you at Art  &Materials. Catherine will be teaching a watercolor workshop called Flower Power #2, focusing on capturing the light and life of real floral arrangements. Check out our photo album of some of Catherine's work right here.

Catherine Hillis has painted all her life, winning numerous awards and honors at competitive shows regionally and nationally.

Mrs. Hillis primarily paints in watercolors, including busy street scenes, intricate florals and her favorite, the historic sites near her home on the Blue Ridge in Northern Virginia.  The hallmarks of her work are rich color and a touch of humor. She has been honored to paint abroad, most recently in Europe and Asia.

 New Bern has a place for you to create pottery. After taking a class and becoming familiar with the Bear Hands Pottery Studio you can become a member.

We offer classes in throwing on the pottery wheel, handbuilding, and glazing techniques.

This is a great place to learn one of the oldest art forms, and to meet interesting people. Check our class page for upcoming classes.
